It started with corn....

Dad called this morning when we were in the middle of putting a second coat of paint on the front porch. I had this crazy idea on Friday to get the porch and living room both painted. I must have been crazy because now it is Sunday evening and my house is all torn up and I still have more to paint. Anyway dad said the sweet corn was ready to be done. So we finished the porch and headed over. Well we worked on sweet corn. Then Tay and dad went to pick apples and then we made apple butter. Then while they were gone Tierney thought she should wash the bikes at Nana's house. When Tay got back they decided to wash the dog and even got uncle Nate to help them since the dog hates baths and he is too big for the girls to hang onto (it was quite funny Tierney was chasing the dog with the hose while Tay had Baxter on a leash and he was pulling Tay around the yard). Then Hailey came over and the girls cleaned the tubs out that we had corn in which turned into Hailey into her underwear and Tierney into the only swimsuit at Nana's house since they were both soaked. Needless to say I couldn't put any pictures with Hailey on the site due to her only being in her underwear. The girls really had a fun time.

Ducks

The girls have been wanting to feed the ducks in Charles City after we go swimming on Fridays. Well I always forget to bring bread to feed them so we decided to go over and feed them today since it was a beautiful day but to cold to swim. There were several geese which were following the girls around and I think they both got a little scared especially when the geese were fighting the ducks for the bread (and feathers were flying). Needless to say I am not sure it was as much fun as they thought it would be. Afterwards Tierney said she wished should could have petted a duck... which just made me laugh. Of course we then had to take a few pictures of them outside. It was a very nice afternoon.

Cousins

A couple of weeks ago we went to my grandma's house to see my cousins' kids Kaitlynn and Jade. I forgot my camera since we were in a hurry getting over there. Thankfully my cousin Katie sent these pictures. The girls only get to see Kaitlynn a couple of times a year at the most since she lives in Florida. Tay looks forward to her visit every year and it never seems like she is here long enough. She tried getting in our car to come home with us this year. They always have so much fun together. All the girls played dress up in my grandmothers' old dresses and had a blast. When it cooled off they went outside to climb trees and pick things out of grandma and grandpa's garden. As you can see Tierney's favorite are the apples. She has loved apples ever since her cousin Ethin shared his with her!

Twin Ponds and the Fair

The girls have had a very busy week, especially Tay. Grandpa Lewie took Tay to a day camp at the Nature Center the past three days. It was a really nice time. Tay was happy to have some time with just her and grandpa. They even went to lunch together one day after camp. The first two pictures Tay took on her own at day camp. She has one day left. The kids asked for another day at camp so they are going to ad an additional day. Marshall is going to take her tomorrow. The girls also spent the night at my parents' house last night. Mom and dad took them and their cousin Hailey to the fair in West Union tonight. They both had a really good time and are exhausted. Tierney was sad when I got them that her daddy wasn't with her. Tay said that grandma wanted to keep them another day but I really missed them especially not tucking them in last night!

Pool Day

Today was supposed to be our pool day with Meg and Ethin but Meg called and Ethin was being too grumpy so they weren't able to come. Marshall was off today since he worked four ten hour days so we talked him into coming with us. Since we went to Charles City we let Tay bring her friend Hannah so she would have someone to hang around with. I like the Charles City pool better than ours since there is more room for Tierney to play without the water being deep. It was a good way to start the weekend after a very long week. We then made Marshall take us out to DQ afterwards!

Diving Boards

Taylor took the test to go off the diving boards and "passed" as she said! She is so excited and that is all she wants to do at the pool! Here are some pictures that Hannah's mom took of her at the pool. Tierney now is telling us that she needs to bring her life jacket to the pool so she can jump off the diving boards with Tay. That kid is fearless!!

Pool and Fish

Here are some pictures from the pool today. Meg and I took the girls and Ethin swimming in Charles City. Tay was upset about going there at first since she didn't think any of her friends would be there. She ended up running into one of her friends from dance so all was well. She didn't like that they only had two diving boards and New Hampton has more but she survived. Meg and I liked it since there was more room for Ethin and Tierney to play without having to be right on top of them. We decided that we are going to make Fridays our swimming afternoon with the kids since Marshall and Desmond are both working.

The very sad news is that when we got home Tay and I discovered that Miss Tierney's fish died. Tay's died earlier this week. They nagged us to get more fish and they both died within a week. On the way to the pool Tay was hitting me up for a puppy. Not sure how that would work since we can't even keep fish alive! So I texted Marshall and told him we have to break the bad news to Tierney in the morning. I didn't think I could do it tonight since she has had a busy day without a nap... I just didn't think I could deal with that tonight since I am quite sure it is not going to go over well!

Summer at last!!

Summer is finally here! Taylor couldn't wait for school to get out... I'm not sure why since she was bored her first day. So her second day off she and I went shopping and had a girls day. Marshall and Tierney spent the day cleaning up the yard... Our yard is such a mess. Marshall, my grandpa, and my mom got our patio put in on Thursday! I love it!! We sat out on it last night. Marshall grilled and then we ate outside and then did smores in our fire pit that Nate and Beth gave us two years ago and we just used for the first time! The girls think it is the greatest thing ever. While Marshall was grilling Taylor tried out her roller blades that she got for her birthday but hadn't got to use until now since the weather was so crappy. She did really well on them. And Tierney rode her bike to catch up with Tay. She is getting really good at pedaling now that she can finally reach them. I think we are all glad to have some nice weather!!
