So far so good...

Well so far this school year has started out very well for both girls. Tay is happy that she has two study halls this year to get more of her work done at school. She also hasn't had tons of homework yet which makes her happy!

Tierney loves school this year. She loves her teacher and has made some new friends. She is so excited to have homework. It's funny how at that age homework is fun. She is so good about getting her stuff done right away so she can play after. I sure hope that continues. Today she came home extra excited. She gets to do the ELP program that Tay does. She is so proud of herself and so are we. She is doing so well with her reading and writing that I sure hope it continues! I am praying that this school year continues to go as well as it has started!

SNAP

Tay's Girl Scout Troop helped out for the doggie swim at the pool last night. It was a fundraiser for SNAP (the local pet resuce program). Here are a couple of pictures of our troop.

Diving Boards

Here they go....

Tierney, Tatum, Tay

Starting off small....

and ending with the high dive!

This has been such a crazy summer. Tierney has become quite the swimmer and is always striving to do as well as her big sister. Tierney started the summer with going down the water slide without anyone. That was huge for me to let her do. She probably could have done it last year but you know her mother is just a little over protective! Well her big sister is quite the diver. I am always getting compliments on what a good diver Tay is. Guess who also wants to be a good diver... well this last week before the pool closed little miss Tierney started to go off the diving boards! I wouldn't let her go off the high one at first even though the first day she wanted to. I also had her start with her sister going off first and waiting in the water in front of the boards for her and Tay's friend, Tatum waiting in the water on the side of the boards and me outside of the water on the side (like I said I'm a little over protective). Lets just say she doesn't need any of us even though it took me awhile to admit it! Well by the last day of the season Tierney started to go off the high dive. It is just so crazy watching her go off the boards... I almost have to laugh since she looks so small up there! She is so proud of herself and she should be! She is quite the fish!

Tierney first day of 1st Grade

Tierney with her big sister on her first day of school.
Tierney so proud of having a desk this year!

Tierney started first grade on Thursday. She was so excited to go back to school. She got her friend Kandice's mom for a teacher and is super excited! We are excited as well and hope that with her knowing her teacher so well that she will have a much better school year this year. She even tried ditching her dad today and go into the school on her own today... her parents aren't quite ready for that yet. She can stop growing just like her sister! She is doing so well and had her first spelling test today and got all of the words right so she gets the challenge list this week. We are so proud of her!

Tay first day of 6th Grade

How is it possible that my little girl is turning into this beautiful young lady? I cannot believe she started sixth grade last Wednesday. She is almost as tall as me and now wears the same size shoe. Tierney and I keep telling her that we are going to put a brick on her head so she stops growing. The time is going so fast that she can stop growing anytime!! So far school is going good for her and she still likes her parents!! Lets hope that continues!

Grandma Jan's 70th birthday!

Great Grandma Jan, Tay, Tierney

The girls and I went with my mom, aunt, and cousins to Backbone Park last Monday to celebrate my grandma's 70th birthday. We had a picnic, the kids played at the park, and spent some time on the beach. It was a beautiful day! I am so grateful that the girls are able to enjoy so much time with our families!

This and That...

Summer is officially over in our house. Tay started her first day of sixth grade yesterday and Tierney started her first day of first grade today. I am sad for the school year to start. We have had such a good summer with the girls and I hate the thought of trying to enforce regular bedtimes and nightly routines. I took the past few days off to spend them with the girls. Monday we went to Backbone to celebrate Grandma Jan's 70th birthday and Tuesday we spent all day at the pool. Yesterday we met with Tierney's teacher and then went and played at McDonald's in the afternoon. I have pictures of the girls' first day and from Monday that I will try to get posted.

Tay said her first day was "boring". Apparently they spent the entire day reading the handbook. Tierney had a good first day. She is excited about the teacher she got and happy about the boys in her class. She is a little sad that none of her good girl friends are in her class but we are trying to encourage that she make more friends! One good thing she said yesterday when we were talking about school starting was that she "can't go to school with naked nails". Ha I love that girl she has to have her nails painted for school!

Tonight we were talking about school and it came out that Tierney has already visited the nurse this year! That kid loves the nurse. She says she got hit in the head with a jump rope and had to get an ice pack. I can't wait to hear the "real story" from her teacher. That girl keeps us on our toes!
